Patrick Van Cauwenberghe, UK Trade Development Director, Port of Zeebrugge
Patrick Van Cauwenberghe graduated as a Master of Economics at the University of Ghent (Belgium), followed by a Master in Finance degree at the Vlerick Leuven Ghent Management School (Belgium) and a Master of Business Administration degree at the Cass Business School, London (United Kingdom).He started his professional career as staff member in the study department of the National Bank of Belgium (central bank), where he performed studies on the economic importance of seaports and where he established strategic plans for regions.In 1994, he started working in the Economics Department of the Port of Zeebrugge, managing the ports’ European projects and the port statistics reporting. In 2010, he took up the role of Policy Director leading the Socio-Economic Department of the Port of Zeebrugge. Since 2016, he is Business Intelligence Director and since 2019 he is Trade Facilitation Director in the Commercial Department of the Port of Zeebrugge. Currently he is UK Trade Development Director.He is an active member of the European Seaports Organisation and various Belgian port related organisations. He is speaker, author and co-author of different port related studies, papers and publications.
