This year's event was the customary and unique combination of technical expertise and face to face communication successfully attracting more than 13.000 visitors over its 3 days.
Robert Jervis, Director at Clarion Events, has created a contemporary exhibition characterised by increasing numbers of “digital companies” and small & medium sized enterprises.
There were, in fact, 281 exhibitors with 120 speakers at 82 conference sessions, 880 guests at the Multimodal Awards hosted by Kevin Keegan, and 550 guests at the Multimodal Mixer.
Robert is rightly proud of the keynote visit of HRH Princess Royal, Patron of the Transaid charity and of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport CILT.
It was an enjoyable opportunity to refresh and extend my professional network of people interested in the work of the CILT Rail Freight Forum.
I discovered some significant personnel changes, as well as companies seeking enhanced connections with rail freight. As Secretary, I was delighted to invite a wider range of people to speak and to attend our hybrid meetings over the next twelve months.
I look forward with great confidence to Multimodal 2025 when we can celebrate 200 years of rail freight since the opening of the Stockton & Darlington Railway on 27th September 1825.The campaign Railway 200 will emphasise the role of railways in the 21st century as part of sustainable logistics and supply chain operations.
