Wincanton has signed a three-year contract extension and expansion with defence engineering company Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL).

Wincanton will continue to deliver warehousing operations services at RBSL’s onsite warehouse in Telford, Shropshire, supporting the manufacture of Boxer MIV and upgrade of Challenger 3 vehicles for the British Army. This is complemented by transport services and packaging manufacturing, providing care and protection for goods.

This expansion will also see Wincanton more than double the number of colleagues dedicated to RBSL, developing the skills base of the local communities in which it operates.

Wincanton, which has been working with RBSL since 2011, will also expand its scope of services to provide design and implementation for additional offsite warehousing space, as well as customs clearance management and inbound control management.

Carl Meewezen, Managing Director, Public & Industrial, Wincanton said:

“This contract extension and expansion with our long-term customer RBSL, demonstrates Wincanton’s strength in meeting the complex requirements of UK defence engineering. RBSL will continue to benefit from our commitment to operational excellence and specialist domain expertise in inbound supply chain management gained right across the UK’s defence manufacturing industry.

“We look forward to welcoming new colleagues into Wincanton in the coming months as we support RBSL’s growth.”
