Transmec boosted by warehouse extension at Worcester

Transmec Group has increased its UK warehousing and logistics capacity, thanks to a state-of-the-art extension at its Worcester hub.

Raising capacity at Worcester from 110,000 to 146,000 sq ft (10,200 to 13,600 sq m), three sides of the warehouse have been extended with the new areas used for both racking and floor storage.

The project takes Transmec’s UK warehousing space to more than 500,000 sq ft (46,500 sq m), which is spread across further branches at London Gateway, Redditch and Bradford.

The wider Transmec Group operates a network of warehouses in eight European countries, including Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Belgium and Poland.

Completed in seven months, the Worcester extension includes eight new dock levellers, energy-efficient lighting and a state-of-the-art fire safety system.

Externally, there is new landscaping, security fencing, additional parking spaces, a cycle rack and 14 electric charging stations.

“This is a fantastic upgrade that is already making a difference by enabling us to provide storage for new clients,” said branch manager, Daniel Holmes.

Located at Shire Business Park, just a mile from junction 6 of the M5, the warehouse has proved highly successful for Transmec since it opened in 2018.

As well as long and short-term storage for clients in multiple sectors, it’s also used for logistics, including just-in-time deliveries nationwide.

“The Worcester hub is only 20 miles from our facility at Redditch. The two teams work together extremely closely and the ability to move goods from one warehouse to the other provides additional flexibility, which benefits clients,” Holmes added.
