Bullet Express, which specialises in contract-backed supply chain logistics encompassing transport, storage and worldwide freight, announces that Grant Donald, currently Chief Operating Officer, is being appointed as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding John McKail who is stepping down from the role and will remain on the board as a non-executive director. The leadership change will be effective from 1 November 2026.
Grant joined the business a year ago following senior roles at Movianto and DPD and has led the operations of the business across transport, storage and worldwide operations.
Grant Donald commented: “These are exciting times for Bullet Express and I am privileged to take up the challenge of becoming CEO and leading the next phase of development for the business. I’d like to thank John McKail for his leadership, guidance and professional support since I joined the business and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with him going forward.”
Outgoing CEO, John McKail, led the private equity-backed Management Buy-Out of Bullet Express in October 2023 and, after agreeing to lead the business for a further three years, he put in place this development as part of a wider company succession plan.
John McKail said: “My first step is to congratulate Grant on this well-earned promotion, which I know will be popular throughout the company. This is a natural transition for our company that helps me progress to the next phase of my personal plan whilst still supporting the business. Grant’s experience and vision places Bullet Express in safe hands for the long term.”
John will remain on the Group Board as a Non-Executive Director, and in a part-time consultancy capacity, tasked with supporting Grant’s transition as CEO, mentoring leadership and focusing on continued commercial growth, including mergers and acquisitions.
Group Chair, Graeme Roberts, commented:
“This is the best result we could have hoped for, having worked closely with both John and Grant. This is a new chapter for Bullet Express with exciting times ahead and we look forward to the next phase of Bullet Express’s journey under Grant’s leadership.”
