Leading temperature-controlled specialist JS Davidson has joined forces with cost, procurement and carbon solutions experts Auditel to assist in reducing its carbon footprint, while also accelerating its journey to achieving carbon neutrality.

The two business have come together during a time when JS Davidson has invested heavily into initiatives to cut carbon emissions throughout every stage of its operation.

In recent years, the company has invested heavily to further improve its sustainability and drive down carbon emissions including a new compressor and air-cooled cooling tower, new technology, a brand-new electrical upgrade and 12 specialist forklift trucks together with a host of other initiatives.

By partnering with Auditel, JS Davidson is looking to build upon its commitment to sustainability, ensuring that every aspect of its operation is reviewed through the lens of both environmental impact and cost efficiency.

Formed in 1994, Auditel has for over 30 years worked closely with organisations to achieve on their carbon neutrality and Net Zero goals.

During this period, it has developed a robust network of over 100 procurement and carbon specialists which it taps into to provide clients access to an unrivalled pool of knowledge and expertise. Alongside this, it pledges to help business identify inefficiencies, reduce expenses, and optimise procurement processes, empowering them to make meaningful environmental progress without having to compromise on financial stability.

In recent months Auditel has been working with JS Davidson to analyse key metrics such as gas and electricity consumption, plugging these figures into advanced calculation models, and applying the appropriate conversion factors to generate a comprehensive baseline carbon footprint report.

To ensure accuracy and credibility, this report is independently verified by a third party, enabling JS Davidson to transparently communicate their progress but also helps them avoid common pitfalls, such as misinterpreting or overstating their carbon goals.

Once the baseline figures are established, Auditel works with JS Davidson to develop a detailed carbon reduction plan, which will outline actionable tactics to achieve their goals in a cost-efficient manner and ensures the company can confidently communicate its sustainability ambitions to stakeholders and customers, both existing and new.

Auditel also provides ongoing support, regularly revisiting the data to validate progress and recalculating the carbon footprint annually to keep the journey on track.

Beyond strategy and monitoring, Auditel leverages its extensive network of trusted suppliers to recommend technologies that deliver measurable results, avoiding costly missteps or ineffective solutions.

Sean Bingham, Auditel’s Cost, Procurement and Carbon Solutions Specialist commented:

“Upon meeting with the team at JS Davidson we quickly got a sense of their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint, especially when we discovered the level of investment they had already put into their infrastructure and processes from a sustainability perspective. The inroads they have made so far are impressive and such commitment demonstrates their willingness to lead by example in what is a very carbon-intensive industry. Our role is essentially to complement what they have already achieved and provide the expertise and guidance needed to navigate their journey seamlessly by making sure every step taken is strategic and delivers tangible results.

“Sustainability is an incredibly emotive topic, with a lot of sensitivity around it. It’s therefore important to ensure that the messaging is clear and based on fact to avoid the risk of greenwashing, whether that be the carbon reduction data or the progress achieved thus far, which is why we place such emphasis on kickstarting any carbon reduction journey with accurate and concise data.

“From our experience in working with a wide range of clients, it’s easy for businesses to get carried away when beginning their carbon reduction journey, so making the right choices for the right reasons and engaging with experts to ensure that the groundwork put in place will not only drive impactful change but in the long run improve operational efficiency and reduce cost, is vital.

“Through engaging with us, JS Davidson has made a positive step in building upon the foundations they’ve already put in place.”

John Davidson, Managing Director at JS Davidson also said:

“Reducing emissions is something that has been high on our agenda for some time now, and while we have made headway in reducing our carbon footprint, there’s still some way to go for us to achieve on our goals.

“We were looking for a company to assist us in not only establishing what our carbon usage looks like but also to provide a strategic roadmap to enable us to continue our journey towards carbon neutrality and it was for this reason we engaged Auditel.

“Auditel’s experience and network of contacts gives us total confidence that we are taking the right steps to meet our sustainability goals and will make us better equipped to make informed decisions in the context of further investments down the line.”
