On January 1, 2025, Hapag-Lloyd’s “Secure Container Release” will be implemented in the United Kingdom.

Using blockchain technology, in cooperation with Hapag’s partner, T-Mining, Secure Container Release (SCR) provides a secure, digital alternative to the traditional PIN codes used today to release and pick up containers from the port of discharge. With the implementation of this modern, self-service platform, SCR will enable operators to take full control of their container release process.

Hapag-Lloyd has already secured over a million containers using SCR at the Port of Rotterdam and Antwerp since 2021 and will now start implementation in the United Kingdom.
