Diamond Logistics accelerates nationwide expansion with new Cambridge network partner

Diamond Logistics has strengthened its presence in East Anglia with the launch of a new Cambridge operation as part of its ambitious nationwide expansion plans.

The new site, operated by SD Transportation Services, will provide businesses across central Cambridge with greater access to Diamond’s growing range of same day, overnight and international delivery services.

SD Transportation Services was launched five years ago by Stefan Dolby, who harnesses his experience in the Armed Forces to bring the same levels of reliability, planning and operational excellence to the commercial logistics sector.

Since then, the company has built a strong reputation across Cambridgeshire for its responsive transport and same-day delivery services, supporting businesses with flexible logistics solutions tailored to their needs.

The launch forms part of Diamond Logistics’ wider growth strategy, with the business on track to expand its network to more than 40 sites by the end of the year as demand continues to rise for outsourced fulfilment and flexible delivery solutions.

Founded more than 30 years ago by its founder and CEO Kate Lester, Diamond Logistics has evolved from a traditional courier business into one of the UK’s fastest-growing logistics and eCommerce fulfilment networks, supporting SMEs and scaling online brands with local fulfilment and nationwide delivery capability.

Central to that growth is Despatchlab, Diamond’s own proprietary logistics platform, which enables businesses to manage everything from same day courier services to warehousing and international shipments through a single unified system.

The platform currently integrates with more than 40 marketplaces and 60 carriers, giving customers complete visibility across their logistics operations while helping regional courier businesses scale nationally.

Commenting on Diamond Logistics’ new network partner Kate Lester said:

“The launch of our new Cambridge operation is another important step in Diamond’s wider growth strategy as we continue to expand the network.

“For us, it’s about ensuring as many businesses as possible can access those services regionally, backed by the technology we have developed in-house, alongside nationwide coverage and expertise needed to support long-term growth, and this latest move enables us to deliver that.

“Right now, we’re on track to hitting our target of over having over 40 members within our network, with several more close to being finalised over the summer, and we’re delighted that Cambridge has been added to that growing footprint – giving local businesses access to fast, flexible and scalable logistics solutions.”

Providing a complete range of transport and logistics solutions across the UK, delivered through three core service divisions, Diamond’s new network partner, SD Transportation Services, offers express delivery and transport, fulfilment and business logistics, along with specialist and domestic services.

Speaking on adding the logistics business to the network, Kate added:

“SD Transportation Services was a natural fit for the network. They already have extensive experience operating same-day courier and transport services across Cambridgeshire which complements our existing capabilities and further strengthens our presence in the region.

“But beyond the practicalities, as a business, they have a strong customer-first approach and they’re also looking to expand, which aligns closely with the way we work at Diamond.

“We ultimately look for partners that want to grow, diversify their offering and really embrace the opportunities that technology-led logistics can bring to both themselves and of course their customers – and we’re confident SD Transportation Services will be a fantastic addition to the network as they continue to develop and strengthen their operation.”

Reflecting on the company's next chapter, Stefan Dolby, CEO at SD Transportation Services also said:

“We’re delighted to finally be a part of the Diamond Logistics network, a move that we feel is going to allow us to grow in both a controlled and sustainable way over the coming years.

“Diamond having an established network in place was of course a huge draw for us, but equally important was the fact we were able to retain our own company identity – something I’ve built carefully over the last five years and ultimately was reluctant to lose. From day one through to launch, we’ve felt fully supported by their team. There’s a real sense of collaboration across the wider network too, with partners always willing to share advice and help each other out.

“I’m not someone who likes taking unnecessary risks, and being part of the Diamond network gives us the backing, systems and confidence to develop and grow through expanding our reach nationally, and internationally, in a way that we simply couldn’t achieve on our own. It’s hugely exciting to now be part of something much bigger while continuing to build SD Transportation Services locally in Cambridge while also taking our services nationwide and beyond.”
