DHL Supply Chain has won a three-year contract with energy firms SSE and SGN to provide logistics support and help deliver essential services.
The new contract will see DHL operations running five days a week for SSE and SGN, as well as providing a 24/7 business continuity team for warehouse and transport work.
It will work for both companies out of two sites in Thatcham and Glasgow, providing operations support for the delivery of essential services and sustainable energy solutions.
DHL added that it will also undertake a strategic review of the inbound and outbound supply chains to identify future efficiencies.
DHL also intends to make its solutions circular by also providing reverse logistics services. It will collect and transport used equipment, cables, and materials to be recycled or reused. DHL claims to currently be collecting 14 tonnes of materials per week this way “with a successful recycle rate of 98%”.
