Davies Turner names new Director

Davies Turner has appointed Dave O’Brien to the board of directors at its surface freight subsidiary, Davies Turner & Co.

O’Brien’s career at Davies Turner began in 1990 when he joined as Turkish import manager, transitioning from HV Cowan in Liverpool.

Embracing the challenges of establishing Davies Turner’s position in the trade between Turkey and the UK, he has helped grow the company’s presence from a few trailers per week to over 110 currently, making it one of Davies Turner’s major trade lanes.

His success led to further roles, first as section manager for import lanes run from Davies Turner’s regional freight hub in Manchester, and then as head of retail development in 2010, focusing on the company’s expansion into retail logistics.

In 2024, he became head of global accounts, overseeing new services in offshore warehousing, quality control, and cross-trading to meet clients’ global needs, whilst maintaining his oversight of the company’s Turkish business. As a director, he becomes responsible for the company’s Moroccan services, alongside his current responsibilities.

Davies Turner Group director Alan Williams, said:

“In the same family ownership for over 150 years, Dave’s appointment is part of an ongoing process at every level of the Davies Turner organisation to build our winning teams and safeguard the future.

“We have every confidence in Dave’s ability to work with the other directors at an operational level within our surface freight subsidiary to help inject new ideas and energy to take Davies Turner & Co to the next stage in its development and expansion.”
