A container logistics specialist is expanding its trailer fleet after winning new business.

Based in West Thurrock, MBBA Logistics transports goods to and from ports including Tilbury, London Gateway, Purfleet, and Felixstowe. The company has invested in 13 new skeletal trailers from Krone, partly replacing older units but also to accommodate winning new and improved contracts from its client base.

Some of the trailers will go into its own fleet and others are destined for subcontractors. The new fleet includes some goosenecks to provide additional stability for certain loads.

The Krone Box Liner trailers have a flat chassis configuration for carrying 20ft, 30ft, 40ft and 45ft containers. Krone container chassis are designed to be durable and versatile, with a sliding axle bogie and folding locks at rear, the Box Liner is tailored to British requirements. They come with a 10-year guarantee against corrosion perforation.

“We already owned a few Krone skeleton trailers and were really happy with them,” said Benjamin Abram, director at MBBA Logistics. “We needed to expand so it made sense to me to buy more Krone and keep the fleet all the same.

“We do a wide variety of work, so we needed to reflect that in our trailer fleet. With Krone Box Liners each is designed for different types of work, so they give us different options and the flexibility that we need for our business model.”

Krone trailers are designed for harsh seaport environments and, says Krone Trailers UK, retain their value well. All models have a cathodic dip coating followed by powder coating, providing a high level of resistance to stone chipping and weathering.

Krone trailers are manufactured in Germany, with Krone UK providing nationwide product support, fast parts supply and aftersales care throughout Britain and Ireland.

“The drivers like the Krone trailers as they are reliable and we have found them to be very durable,” added Benjamin. “Also, the aftersales service is good; they are very helpful with spare parts.”
