Palletline is celebrating a 10th Gold award from health and safety charity RoSPA.

This year is the 13th consecutive year Palletline has been recognised by RoSPA – a mark of the company’s efforts to continue improving its health and safety record with the company’s accident statistics trending significantly lower year-on-year than the industry average.

The awards recognise businesses and organisations that are world-leading in health and safety practice and culture, with robust health and safety management systems, outstanding control of risk in the workplace and very low levels of error, harm and loss.

Established more than three decades ago Palletline employs more than 12,000 people nationwide, operating more than 6,000 vehicles and handling more four million pallets of freight each year.

This latest Gold medal from RoSPA is the culmination of years of determination and innovation from Palletline to set the industry bar by embedding a robust health and safety awareness culture throughout its network which is the envy of the industry.

Enjoying a number of industry firsts, not only was Palletline the first network to introduce drive-through warehouses, it was also the first to de-pedestrianise its operation and introduce a 750kg weight limit on unassisted tail lift deliveries.

As a member of the Association of Pallet Networks, and with Palletline’s dynamic HSEQ Manager Ken Bell also the Health and Safety Committee Secretary of the APN since 2011, Palletline has the ability to compare and contrast health and safety methods across the industry and implement best practice throughout its own network. The company also uses this position to advocate for change throughout the wider industry.

Graham Leitch is the Group CEO of Palletline, He said:

“We are delighted to have picked up a 10th RoSPA Gold award. The safety of every member of the Palletline community in our hubs, warehouses and offices and on the roads in our vehicles, and of those around us – from visitors to our premises to other road users is of paramount importance and is at the heart of all that we do.

“We are proud of our record and reputation as the UK’s leading pallet network sector on health and safety innovation and the long line of award wins which reflect our exceptional health and safety record.

“But not a company to rest on our laurels we shall strive to continue building on our success to date as our ever-evolving industry continues to present fresh challenges.”
