Sephora UK announces the appointment of DHL Supply Chain as its lead logistics provider for the next five years. Through this partnership, DHL will be responsible for warehousing, eCommerce fulfilment and Sephora’s UK transport network supporting the company’s retail growth strategy.
As part of this partnership, Sephora and DHL have also announced the launch of a new omni-channel Distribution Centre (DC) in Coventry. The multi-user facility is entirely powered by renewable electricity and is DHL’s first operationally carbon-neutral new build site in the UK and a significant milestone in Sephora’s sustainability journey.
The state-of-the-art flagship DC ranks as one of DHL’s most sustainable sites in Europe in terms of green energy and sustainability and has been designed with employee wellbeing front and centre. It includes interior design features which improves connectivity to the natural environment. Sustainable, recycled, and natural materials feature throughout the site. This meet the needs of Sephora’s omni-channel business, while offering a positive space for employees to be in.
Throughout the development of this partnership, Sephora and DHL have worked closely together to design a supply chain operation to meet the company’s expansion plans and cement the business as a leader in the UK beauty market. DHL’s Digital Manufacturing division has developed tailored in-house solutions to optimise operations based on Sephora’s needs and based on its specialist knowledge of the beauty industry, DHL is deploying pick assisting robots to support fluctuating demand, while maintaining high quality control. Each order will be quickly and efficiently picked and packed across a high number of SKUs, and only needs one touch before it is shipped, maintaining the integrity of the product.
Sephora and DHL will work in close partnership to ensure the supply chain operation and inventory levels are able to support peaks as a result of sales and marketing such as influencer driven demand. DHL’s eCommerce fulfilment capabilities will allow Sephora to offer customers later cut off times and enhanced product availability.
