Leman has announced that it has acquired Maru International Ltd - a solid freight forwarding company focused on European road transport whilst also offering air, sea and logistics solutions.
The company has offices in Dewsbury and Braintree, as well as Coatbridge near Glasgow.
"Maru is a strong company founded on high quality and a great product portfolio that complements Leman's current activities in the UK,” says Thomas Krøyer, CEO of Leman Group, adding:
"Now we can offer a significantly improved and solid set-up across the UK - from southern England to Scotland in the north. Leman becomes more attractive to customers throughout the UK as well as to partners and agents in the rest of Europe and beyond.”
Maru is the third acquisition in the UK in under 2 years, thus part of Leman's strategy for viable and profitable growth through best-fit business acquisitions.
”It was important for us to find the right partner – a strong company with a strong vision – that can help the growth of Maru and ensure the company’s continued development,” says Vaughan Woolfitt, co-owner of Maru.
“Therefore, we are pleased to welcome new owners who share our values. We are convinced that the merger will bring many benefits to both existing and future customers as well as our employees.”
After the merger, the company will consist of a total of 160 employees in the UK.
The corporate merge will be accomplished by the 1st of January 2018, with Jesper Thygesen of Leman UK continuing as Managing Director. Both Vaughan Woolfitt and co-owner Joe Hemingway will continue with the company after the acquisition and contribute to a successful integration.
