Kodak Ltd, the graphic communications business unit of Eastman Kodak has transferred all UK warehouse operations to Miniclipper Logistics in a £2m, 2 year rolling contract. The contract seals the knot on a relationship spanning almost 2 decades and capitalises on the expanding Leighton Buzzard logistics business’s direct delivery, Palletline and haz-chem niche which is suits the high value and fragile nature of Kodak’s printing plates and associated products.
Kodak closed their purpose built Watford warehouse, and relocated staff to a Croxley Green HQ building. All logistics functions and a number of employees have now been transferred over to Miniclipper who for many years have been crossdocking goods from the European manufacturing sites, and delivering all freight from Watford.
The new 55,000 sq. ft Houghton Regis facility now houses Kodak and one other contract, with a total of 25 people on site. The services provided to Kodak also include a cold store for the Entertainments Imaging division of Kodak from which film is despatched globally for the motion picture industry, and for which Known Consignor status was achieved by Miniclipper, as well as a guillotine operation for bespoking printing plates.
Kodak’s team were delighted with the smooth transition which occurred over a weekend last month, with all orders being successfully despatched on time on the first full day of operation.
