New technology which enables the live tracking of consignments and access to interactive delivery information has been launched in the form of an application which can be downloaded to any smartphone.
The app, known as SOLO.Track, has been developed by technology company the 3T Group who work with companies to automate business logistics processes and reduce transport spend. The system uses cutting edge technology which enables carriers to track specific consignments rather than just vehicles, as well as offering a range of other functionalities.
Using the app, carriers and their customers can view and manage an entire delivery manifest. The driver is able to instantly download and send POD as well as photographs and videos of damaged products. They can use the system to upload any changes in schedule so that live information is always available. The application also includes a geo fencing facility which automatically triggers a notification when pre-set boundaries are crossed.
Steve Twydell, CEO of the 3T Group explains that SOLO.Track makes use of the most advanced technology, not historically available in the British logistics sector.
“The transport management industry has yet to fully implement some of the revolutionary technology that is being developed,” he comments. “Smartphone technology offers huge potential for completely changing the way deliveries are scheduled, managed and communicated. Pretty much everyone has access to a smartphone; they are cheap to buy and operate which means that companies don’t have to invest huge sums in equipment or systems that could become obsolete within a matter of months.”
SOLO.Track is part of EVENT, a collection of apps which can be used as a standalone solution to a specific issue, or combined to provide an integrated transport management system. Features include live two way information via text, voice and video, vehicle defect reporting, real time tracking, live KPIs, POD signing on glass and a range of reports. 3T also offer a range of support options including video Q&As and weekly online webinar courses.
“We have long championed automation in transport management as the way forward,” adds Steve. “The EVENT suite of apps is the culmination of many years’ work developing ground breaking new systems and software founded on our extensive experience in the logistics industry.”
