Since its formation in 2001, Maritime Transport has grown tenfold into one of the largest, privately-owned intermodal transport operators in the UK.
Initially providing container transport solutions from its 136-truck inception, Maritime has expanded its services over the years to offer complete supply chain coverage, now operating in the domestic distribution sector, rail, warehousing, off dock laden and empty storage, container repairs and freight management.
Over 2,000 state-of-the-art, LEZ-compliant vehicles enable Maritime to serve its customer base from a national network of 40+ strategically-placed depots at major ports and rail hubs, including its Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal, East Midlands Gateway, Felixstowe, Southampton, London Gateway, Liverpool and Bristol.
In 2019, Maritime launched its rail subdivision, ‘Maritime Intermodal’ as part of its ongoing commitment to providing a full end-to-end UK logistics solution to its customer-base. The company currently operates ten daily intermodal services running throughout the UK.
More recently, Maritime announced its acquisition of Wincanton Container Logistics. Under the deal, which came into full effect on 17th October 2020, all employees and assets were transferred to Maritime who continues to work with Wincanton plc as a strategic partner supporting a number of Wincanton’s customers’ international supply chains.
