With maritime and river traffic rising and a 15% increase in container traffic, in 2017 HAROPA experienced the best result of the ports of the north-European range. For the first time since its creation in 2012, HAROPA handled 3 million TEUs in one year. These great results attest to the competitiveness of our alliance and the complementarity of our ports.
In 2017, HAROPA strengthened its global logistics offering with leading maritime services, optimised goods handling and connected logistics areas. Moreover, a specific effort was made around multimodal rail and river services. At the same time, private investments have reached unprecedented levels, proof of the trust of our customers.
Among the strongest increases, growth in ro-ro traffic (+ 18%) or construction materials boosted by Greater Paris (+ 19% for maritime and + 14% for river) are encouraging for the future.
In 2018, the year of multimodality for the European Commission, HAROPA will especially focus its efforts on multimodal services, to further improve the performance of the port system.
