Wincanton has secured an extension to its contract to provide supply chain services for Lucozade Ribena Suntory (LRS). The contract involves the management of two semi-automated sites - the LRS National Distribution Centre at Brockworth, Gloucestershire, and an additional site in Middlewich, where goods are held for UK distribution and export
This latest agreement sees the contract extended until 2023, taking the association between the two brands to over 25 years.
Wincanton is the sole supplier of warehousing services to LRS in the UK. Its role extends from customer set up, enquiries, warehousing, order taking, through to pick, pack and dispatch. It also maintains stock of production materials for the factory in the Forest of Dean. The warehouses handle about 220 finished product lines, a mix of bottles, cans, and tetra cartons.
Wincanton and LRS will continue to work together on initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint of their operations. Projects to date include trialling electric trucks, upgrading the fleet with Euro 6 standard vehicles, converting warehouse and offices to LED lighting technology and a £1m investment in a new fleet of forklift trucks with more efficient charging technology that reduces energy consumption by up to 12%.
Wincanton is also the LRS transport provider of choice, providing a complete supply chain solution for the brand.
Ian Keilty, Managing Director, Retail and Consumer at Wincanton, comments:
“We are proud of our longstanding relationship with Lucozade Ribena Suntory and are delighted to have formalised this with an extension to our existing warehousing contract. We function very much as a partnership, driving operational excellence to help Lucozade Ribena Suntory deliver their vision for the future.”
Chris Kane, Supply Chain Operations Director at Lucozade Ribena Suntory adds:
“Wincanton provides far more than simply a warehousing service, they support us across the supply chain and really embrace the Lucozade Ribena Suntory culture. Their expertise, flexibility and commitment to reducing our impact on the environment are just some of the factors that make Wincanton our long-term logistics partner of choice.”
Separately, Wincanton has secured a contract extension with British Sugar to provide transportation services in the UK. The contract renewal will extend the relationship between the two companies for another three years.
British Sugar produces around half of all sugar in the UK and is the country’s sole maker of sugar from homegrown sugar beet.
Wincanton will continue to transport products from British Sugar’s sites in Wissington and Newark, completing daily warehouse-to-retailer deliveries across the UK, as well as transfers between factory sites. Wincanton will also manages planning and scheduling of these deliveries from its own site in Corby.
