Maersk increases EHI in UK

“Increases in costs over the last few years has meant that Maersk continues to assess all surcharges to ensure their accuracy and sustainability within the current market. After careful evaluation we have determined that the current rates associated to processing of equipment handling on import transactions do not fully cover the associated costs incurred by Maersk.

“Keeping your supply chain moving is of paramount importance to us. We will be using the surcharge as a mechanism to pass through additional costs presented by our vendors, secure the capacity in the market and ultimately ensure a continued and sustainable inland transportation service to our customers.

“The EHI surcharge will increase to £79.00 and is effective as of Monday 15th January 2024.

“Surcharge codes will be presented on invoices as “EHI” (Equipment Handling Import). Therefore, we ask for your collaboration in updating your invoice registration systems to reflect the new surcharge. This to ensure that invoices are processed correctly, and all payments are made.

“The surcharge will be in place for as long as it is necessary to cover the increased costs that we are incurring. This means that we will withdraw the surcharge as soon as the energy prices return to previous levels. We will continue to review the situation on a country-by-country basis, making necessary changes to the surcharge as circumstances dictate. This means that further increases may also be experienced.”
