€1m in investment earmarked
Jim Meade, the CEO of Irish Rail, has announced that the company is to spend over €1m on renewals and repairs at their busy freight terminal in County Mayo in the West of Ireland.
The work will take place in the 4th quarter of this financial year and includes resurfacing the hardstanding area, rail track and points renewals, lighting and other ancillary facility works.
The terminal handles around 18 intermodal and two pulpwood trains each week making it the busiest in Ireland.
The multimodal trains operate to and from Dublin Port whilst the pulpwood trains run to Waterford
