Gregory Distribution acquires Pollock (Holding) Ltd

Subsidiaries Pollock (Scotrans) Ltd and Pollock Express Ltd also acquired
Gregory Distribution (Holdings) Ltd has bought the Scottish company as it boosts its presence north of the border.

The company has acquired Pollock (Holding) Ltd and its subsidiaries Pollock (Scotrans) Ltd and Pollock Express Ltd. The business is headquartered in Bathgate, West Lothian.

Pollock is one of Scotland’s best known brands and, like Gregory, is a private family-owned business with a strong reputation for customer service gained during more than 80 years of trading.

With 150 vehicles and more than 200 staff, Pollock is a significant addition to the Gregory Group and will operate alongside Gregory Distribution, ARR Craib and its Scottish JV, Hayton Coulthard.

This acquisition will considerably enhance Gregory’s already significant presence in the Scottish transport and logistics market particularly as it includes more than 55,000sq ft of warehousing located at the Bathgate headquarters.

John Gregory, chief executive of Gregory Distribution, said:

“Pollock is an iconic name in the U.K. transport industry, with more than 80 years of serving many fantastic companies, both within Scotland and to and from England.

“We will be maintaining the strong Pollock brand and we are delighted that Scott Pollock will continue to lead the Pollock business within the group. It will be very much business as usual for all of the Pollock team and its customers.”

Mr Pollock said:

“After 80 years as a family business we feel that the time is right for Pollock to become part of a bigger group and I look forward to realising the opportunities which this brings. As a family owned company, Gregory’s shares the same values as ourselves”.

Founded in 1919, Gregory Distribution is a privately-owned distribution business providing transport and logistics services in many sectors and lists many national brand names amongst its customers.

The group now operates from 49 sites from Scotland to West Cornwall with more than 1,100 trucks, 2,500 employees and an annual group turnover of in excess of £260million
