New tool to compare modes
DHL has announced the launch of a new service myDHLi Quote & Book to compare quotes and make bookings for air and ocean freight, and door-to-door shipments. The service is now available in more than 60 countries, representing 98% of all ocean and air freight volumes.
The service is designed to guide sellers through the quotation journey to compare delivery options. These include DHL Ocean Connect LCL, two speeds of air freight and DHL Air Connect and DHL Air Economy.
Sellers can access air and freight quotes to choose a suitable service for their delivery promise. Air and freight quotes allow merchants to compare rates and lead times. Here are the available logistic options merchants can choose from:
- DHL Air Connect – a solution to deliver in 3-5 days
- DHL Air Economy – a cheaper option which uses alternative carriers and routes to deliver in 5-7 days
- Both booking options cover a cargo of up to 2,000 kg per shipment
- Ocean freight – instant quotes are generated for less-than-carload lot (LCL) shipments of up to 10,000 kg/ 20cbm per shipment
The DHL Global Forwarding service also offers an insurance option. Sellers can calculate the insurance by selecting a transport mode, entering the product and good’s value.
Merchants will get a confirmation email once they book the ordered service. It will contain tracking information and an overview of the logistics solution. Sellers can save quotes and share them with selected recipients via email. Quotes are valid for up to 30 days.
Sellers can request a quote for special cargo, including dangerous goods, lithium batteries and non-stackable cargo, which is provided in a separate email from DHL.
This news comes at the time of increasing customer demand for convenient and fast shipment. Merchants can benefit from the service by making the right decision based on the transport mode and transit time.
