Baxter Freight’s ‘Fast Forward’ plan picks up pace with 7 internal promotions
“We understand that the success of the business is dependent on the strength of our team"
  • Nottingham-based logistics firm Baxter Freight moves ahead with expansion plans to upscale, beginning with internal promotions to facilitate a recruitment drive.
  • Sales department grows with 3 new management roles and 2 new teams.
  • Operations team restructures with 2 new teams and 2 internal promotions.
In line with their Fast Forward plan to grow turnover to more than £25m and increase employee numbers by almost a third to over 100, Baxter Freight appoints Lorraine Sutcliffe as Director, Head of HR to spearhead expansion plans. In her new role as Director, Lorraine will be key in steering Baxter Freight through the next stage of their expansion strategy, including an organisational restructure and 7 internal promotions ahead of a new recruitment campaign.

Lorraine comments: “We understand that the success of the business is dependent on the strength of our team – and with this in mind, we’re delighted to announce a number of internal promotions. These opportunities fall in line with our company values of promoting from within and will help strengthen our inhouse leadership capabilities.”

The Sales department grows with 3 internal promotions. Rebecca Boulter is promoted to Team Leader, Key Accounts, a brand-new role created to drive the team, focusing on meeting customers’ needs, and strengthening the hands-on support offered to existing and new large volume accounts.

Max Stanford and Ben Jeffery are promoted to Team Managers, Customer Relations. The additional management roles create a pathway for new recruits, facilitating the growth of the department with space for two new teams.

There are also 2 internal promotions in the Operations teams, as well as a third externally recruited management role.   Tom Falivena becomes Team Leader, Customs, and Wade Akhtar becomes Team Leader, Groupage.   The recruitment into Operations will also see the business becoming operational 24/7, to support customers around the clock as part of the business' adjustment to the post-Brexit logistics industry.

To support the growth of the business, Lottie Baxter is promoted to Team Leader, Marketing and Communications, and Lorraine Sutcliffe, as Director, Head of HR, is also recruiting roles into the HR and Finance teams.

Peter Isler, Managing Director, comments: “As we grow our services, we’re focused on training and developing individuals so we can continue to deliver the best customer service in the UK logistics industry.

“Last year we expanded our office by an additional 5,000 sq ft ahead of our planned growth, and we’re excited to see our new capacity begin to fill in the coming months, watching how our business will grow and evolve over the next year.”
