DHL customers will benefit from Baxter's wide network and transport capacities in the UK
DHL Freight has entered into a strategic partnership with UK logistics provider Baxter Freight for freight transport in the UK and between the UK and continental Europe. DHL customers will benefit from Baxter's wide network and transport capacities in the UK. DHL Freight will give Baxter Freight access to its European groupage network, as well as its full and part load trucking capacity and intermodal offering. As DHL Freight's sales partner in the UK, the customer service driven British logistics provider will be able to provide its customers with even more innovative DHL Freight solutions.

"We have chosen to partner with Baxter Freight because of their customer service driven reputation and sales focused strategy, both of which are needed if we are to grow in the UK market in the current climate. With our partnership in the UK, we are able to offer our customers even more flexible and personalized services. I'm excited to see where the next steps take us as we jointly develop business between the UK and the rest of Europe," says Thomas Vogel, COO DHL Freight.

DHL Freight will benefit from higher volumes and Baxter's ability to reload equipment out of the UK. In addition, Baxter Freight will also use DHL Freight's intermodal services, adding environmentally friendly logistics to its portfolio. The companies will also work together on major tenders, combining the strengths of an entrepreneurial mid-sized British company with the sheer scale and depth of infrastructure of a pre-eminent global logistics brand.

Ian Baxter, Chairman of Baxter Freight, said:

"Our partnership with DHL Freight combines our experience as a medium-sized, fast-growing British logistics provider with the global market leader in this sector. Together we will deliver innovative, high quality, cost-effective solutions for our customers, helping them to optimise their logistics and improve their competitiveness in these complicated times. In these circumstances, people are expecting their logistics providers to deliver market-leading customer service, value for money and long-term support, factors that this partnership exemplifies."

Separately, Baxter Freight has announced a customs partnership with Gerlach Customs Services for UK and EU

Baxter Freight has announced that it has secured a market-leading solution for customs clearance after the Brexit transition period ends. The partnership with Gerlach Customs Services, the leading neutral provider of customs services in Europe, grants Baxter Freight’s customers access to customs support and consultancy from 750 experts across the continent.

The partnership sees customer service driven Baxter Freight become the UK sales representative for Gerlach. All customers who are looking for customs support and advice for shipments between the UK and the EU will benefit from the deal, which is expected to dramatically boost business for both companies. The partnership with Gerlach will ensure creative solutions are provided in a timely manner despite Brexit challenges. Gerlach’s portfolio covers all common customs clearance services such as import, export, transit and premium services such as Customs Control Tower and Customs consultancy.

Regardless of a Brexit trade deal, when the transition period ends on 1 January 2021, all shipments between the UK and the EU will be subject to additional customs checks and documentation. The service provided by Gerlach in partnership with Baxter Freight will enable this process to be as smooth as possible, with Gerlach providing customs clearance services at all suitable locations including borders. This will ensure customers are fully supported throughout the challenges Brexit will bring to their logistics.

Peter Isler, Managing Director of Baxter Freight, said:

“Gerlach’s customs expertise across Europe will be an enormous support for our customers and will keep freight moving at a complicated time. Our current and future customers should take a lot of confidence from our level of preparation for Brexit and the network we have built. Our partnership with Gerlach and the development of our European network demonstrates our commitment to providing market-leading customer service regardless of the challenges companies are facing due to Brexit, COVID-19 and the economic crisis.”

John Peeters said:

“We’re excited to partner with Baxter Freight, one of the most customer service-driven and sales-focused logistics companies in the European market. We have spent the last 12 months working with the senior management team to develop a partnership which prepares for the end of the Brexit transition period, and our mutual customers can have great confidence in the preparations we have done.”
