Amara partners with Clipper Logistics to facilitate growth image

Clipper Logistics has announced a new partnership agreement with Amara, the luxury homewares and accessories e-tailer. Clipper has been at the forefront of retail and high-value logistics for more than twenty-five years and will provide Amara with bespoke e-fulfilment services.

Amara, the luxury homewares and accessories e-tailer, was founded in 2005 and now boasts over 350 aspirational brands. Amara is the UK’s largest online retailer of Missoni Home as well as holding many aspirational collections from brands such as Roberto Cavalli, Ralph Lauren Home and Versace. Amara launched their own label collection, ‘A by Amara’, in 2016, which has since become its top selling brand.

Clipper began relief operations to support the Amara business in August 2019 to ensure continuity during a period of change. The new operation is now live and is located at one of the Clipper flagship sites in Northampton. To accommodate the operation an additional 140ksqft of operational space was constructed along with the necessary recruitment to support the activity.

Andrew Hood, CEO at Amara says:

“We are delighted to be working with Clipper and as we intend to grow our product SKUs by 40% over the year to January 2020 we needed a partner who could help us realise this ambition – Clipper have clearly demonstrated that they can help us to deliver our plan.”

Separately, Clipper has committed to a further ten years on Potter Space’s business park in Selby, having renewed the lease for its existing two units totalling 195,000 sq. ft.

Clipper Logistics began operating from the business park when it took an initial 165,000 sq. ft building in 2009, the unit contains three large mezzanine floors and a sophisticated conveyor system, making it ideal for Clipper’s specialist logistics handling of garments and high value retail products.

Following expansion, the company took an additional 30,000 sq. ft. building linked via a secured covered access route to its existing building.

With the combined operational facilities Clipper have been able to create a multi-customer shared use facility including a large-scale fashion returns operation

Following the signing of the lease, Potter Space has agreed to construct additional staff car parking & bicycle facilities. In addition, Clipper is increasing the office accommodation and staff welfare facilities to accommodate the increased activities.

Speaking about the lease renewal, managing director of Potter Space, Matthew Lamb, said,

“Clipper Logistics has been a valued client of ours for the last ten years and it has been great to witness its growth over that period.

“We pride ourselves on working closely with all our clients. By doing so we can be alerted to their needs on site and endeavour to provide additional facilities and services to enable the business to become more successful. Clipper is a great example of this approach as it continues to grow its operation on site resulting in the company’s wish to remain with us for at least another ten years.”
