The transport and logistics industry is not just about truck driving!  The business of transport, logistics and supply chain management covers a wide range of different types of transport with thousands of companies working to help move everything from microchips to oranges around the world.

In partnership with Think Logistics, Career Ready, BIFA, CILT, FTA, Multimodal is dedicating a whole day to attracting talent to the logistics sector by showcasing the exciting careers, apprenticeships, long-term prospects and up-skilling opportunities within the sector.

Multimodal will host free to attend seminars and workshops introducing the world of logistics and providing insight into the careers opportunities in the industry, sessions will be short, interactive and cover topics such as  :
 

What does the logistics industry do?  This session will help visualise the sector and the kinds of jobs that exist within it.  We’ll also look at some of the latest inventions to make the system work better, including robotics and AI.   
Where is the logistics industry now and what changes will you be part of? This session will cover an analysis of the future of the logistics industry and the opportunities that will evolve with it, including Robotics, AI, Automation and innovation that supports a greener economy and society.
A day in the life of a learn from those in the job what the job really entails.
5 routes to your ideal career: Industry insiders share their best routes to the most desirable jobs
What can a career in logistics and supply chain look like?  Hear from exhibitors and young people what it’s like working at their company. 

After the sessions there will be the opportunity to tour the exhibition to meet exhibitors face-to-face and discuss their role in the industry and careers they offer.  
(Plus the chance to collect corporate giveaways!)

There will also be the opportunity to discuss with current apprentices and new recruits their own education path and career experiences in the sector.

The day will finish with lunch and a chance to have an informal chat with employers and current apprentices.

FTA are one of the biggest business groups in the UK, supporting, shaping and standing up for efficient logistics. NOVUS, part of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT UK) works with eight leading UK Universities to provide students studying business, logistics, operations management and supply chain degrees with guest lectures, mentoring, placements for the summer and a guaranteed third year year-long industrial placement. At two of our Universities, we even guarantee graduate employment! We do this through our 27 sponsors, who, in return, get the cream of the graduate crop, guaranteed “work ready”.

 



At Multimodal you will be able to hear from and have the opportunity to talk directly to young people who are working for BIFA Members and ask them their thoughts about considering a career in logistics.  We will have members of our Young Forwarder Network taking part in the seminars and you will also be able to come along to the BIFA Village and have a chat with our industry ambassadors as well.  Many of them have taken the apprenticeship route and will also explain the many different pathways your career could take you in logistics.   We will also have many of our employers Members present at the show who will be able to highlight opportunities available within their organisations.
