Multimodal 2008 final press release, testimonials and supporters

NEC Birmingham, 25th April 2008 - Multimodal 2008, the first UK event for the whole transport and logistics industry, finished recently at Birmingham’s NEC. The event, which combined a conference, seminars and a large exhibition, focused on carbon footprinting and green logistics, together with security in the supply chain.

The event attracted 1903 visitors and 693 other attendees, and 135 companies took stands in the exhibition hall. Most expressed satisfaction with the event, and nearly all are planning to exhibit at Multimodal 2009 next year. There were also press representatives from many of the leading publications in the freight and transport press.

For the exhibitors, the most important aspect of the show was the quality of the sales leads it generated. One company, PD Ports, signed a major chemical import contract as a result of attending the event.

James Stangroom of the Bristol Port Company commented, “We have signed up for next year and have seen senior decision makers from large shipping companies”.

“We have had a good show with quality leads, and have seen companies such as Marks and Spencer, Argos, Homebase, Diageo, Ford and Land Rover. We have booked a bigger stand for next year”, said Richard Stillwell of Zim UK.

Alan Cooksey, Director of Malcolm Logistics said they had made good quality contacts and had been impressed by the organisation of the show, while Richard Ellis of TT Club commented on the good quality of the stands and the companies attending.

Garry Mansell of Trade Extensions who designed and coordinated the Conference programme, expressed satisfaction at the way the event had run. “We had some very good calibre speakers and exhibitors, and we attracted a good quality audience. It is gratifying to hear that so many are intending to come back next year, as this will enable us to build and even better event next year.”

"The launch show of Multimodal was well publicised, well organised and well represented by the industry, and the quality of the enquiries received seems generally very good." Wincanton

"Thank you for a fantastic show. Well organized, and quality attendees." PD Ports
