Downton wins logistics contract with Magners

According to reports, Downton has won a £25m deal to manage the warehousing and distribution of Magners Cider products, owned by parent company C&C Group.

Downton, which has its national headquarters in Moreton Valence, will service Magners’ combined cider business following its £45m acquisition of Gaymers Cider from Constellation Europe last year.

The five-year agreement will be managed through Downton’s national distribution centre in Avonmouth. Downton will handle products from the Gaymers cider mill at Shepton Mallet, Somerset, which includes the popular brands Olde English, Gaymers and Blackthorn, in conjunction with the well known Magners brands that will come in from Clonmell in Ireland.

Downton’s long history of service to Gaymers, the simplicity of their solution and their pragmatic approach to the business all contributed to Gaymers awarding them this contract.
