Terminal "swap" deals for APM Terminals and CMA CGM
APMT is ceding its share in NFTI Dunkirk to Terminal-Link, while Terminal-Link is giving up its share in MCT Mobile to APMT
It is not clear whether any financial consideration is involved in the "swap" deal as both sides have declined to comment on that. However, An APMT spokesman said that "these were two separate transactions that came together timing-wise." Rumours about APMT preparing to sell its stake in Nord France Terminal International to CMA CGM began circulating last Autumn. In the event, CMA CGM's affiliate Terminal-Link is indeed acquiring the whole of APMT's stake, boosting its share to 91%. Dunkirk port authority's 9% stake in NFTI is unaffected by the change. CMA CGM is today the main customer of NFTI, operating four regular services to Dunkirk: the North Europe French West Indies (NEFWI), the French Asia Line 3 (FAL3), the Panama Direct (PAD service) and the Europe/Morocco service. On the other side, APMT is acquiring the 20% stake in Mobile Container Terminal LLC held by Terminal-Link, so MCT will now be a 100% APMT operation. Source: WorldCargo News
