Sainsbury's uses logistics providers more
Based on the last submission of data, Sainsbury's is outsourcing more of its network to third party logistics providers than Asda and Tesco.
Of Sainsbury's network of 20 distribution centres, six are operated in-house and the remaining are outsourced to a range of logistics service providers. Tesco and Asda outsource a lower proportion of their networks to logistics providers, opting to operate distribution centres and transport in-house. DHL Exel and Wincanton currently have a lion's share of the distribution centre contracts for these retailers.
