Gazeley to develop bespoke bakery site for Warburtons

The UK Logistics Fund (UKLF), which is managed by Legal & General Property and Hermes Real Estate, and Gazeley, global provider of sustainable logistics space, have been granted planning consent to develop a 11,150 m2 bespoke bakery and distribution warehouse for family bakers, Warburtons, at the Fund’s site in Bristol, G. Park Western Approach. Warburtons has agreed to acquire the unit from The UK Logistics Fund.

This is the second deal between Gazeley and Warburtons, following the successful delivery of a bakery unit for the company in 2003 at Gazeley’s Enfield site. G. Park Western Approach is located between the M48 and M5 and offers direct access to 80.0% of the UK in 4.5 hours.

Plans for the development of the new bakery at Bristol were submitted to South Gloucestershire Council earlier this year. The completed bakery is set to create over 450 new jobs in the area. It includes a despatch and production warehouse as well as space for offices and other supporting facilities. The proposed development for Warburtons will also showcase a number of these cutting edge sustainable technologies, all provided as standard by Gazeley and the UKLF.
