Rhys Davies move into Multimodal

Rhys Davies Freight Logistics was founded in 1952 by Rhys Davies, the father of the present Chairman, Gwyn Davies. In the last decade, the Company has grown from a single base in South Wales into a National company with nine depots throughout the UK.

RDFL offers a comprehensive nationwide pallet distribution service, as well as specialising in "Total Logistics Solutions" to customers with more demanding warehousing and distribution requirements, with an annual turnover in excess of £37m.

The fleet, in excess of 170 vehicles, ranges from vans to rigids through to a substantial fleet of articulated vehicles, with some 150 curtain-sided and double deck trailers.

The Company’s premises in Cardiff, provides warehousing in excess of 160,000 square feet and, together with our own operating centres in Andover, Birmingham, Cwmbran, Haydock, London, Rainham, Scotland and Wakefield, form a national network of warehousing in excess of 660,000 square feet.

Much of the business is on a Next Day delivery basis, with considerable emphasis on groupage of 1 - 5 pallets - taking advantage of our inter-depot overnight trunking service, ensuring next day delivery in the appropriate region. This service necessitates a high level of management, coupled with the consistent review and improvement of IT systems and practical activities to satisfy the ever-changing needs of our customers. Rhys Davies also offer a fully managed full unit load distribution service, on both a UK and Worldwide basis.

In addition, the company stores both raw materials and finished products for a wide range of clients in varying market sectors - receiving product either directly from the production facilities, from client suppliers or via container directly from the UK container terminals. The receiving warehouses operate fully computerised warehouse management systems, providing the customer with full stock rotation, order picking, order assembly and despatch.

Rhys Davies provides fully dedicated services, where our staff manage all of the customers’ on site warehousing and distribution operations, leaving the customer free to concentrate on its core skills.

The board of directors consists of Chairman Gwyn Davies, Managing Director Mark Richmond, Operations Director Paul Hodgkiss, Financial Director Martin Johns and Non-Executive Director Geoff Brogan.
